San Bruno is not known for their restaurant scene, but this sushi restaurant exceeds the rest.  This new, high-quality restaurant is a great addition to the San Bruno area.  We went here on “Date Night” (with baby, of course!) and were pleasantly surprised by the ambiance and excellent food.  We will definitely be coming back, especially because they ran out of Uni and we really wanted to try it!

Kid-Friendly: Yes!  We called an hour ahead and were able to make reservations because we had the baby with us.  When we got to our table they had a reserved sign and placed us in the back and we have some room to move around when Dahlia was getting a bit fussy.  So, I gave her some tofu and she was good to go 🙂

Service:  Great

I gave Gintei a 4 because although the sushi was excellent, the appetizers were so-so & they ran out of the Santa Barbara Uni we so wanted to try.  I guess if we weren’t being cheap, we could’ve gotten the $40.00 uni, but seriously, you have to keep a budget here or else you could end up spending a lot.  As soon as I looked the menu and saw that the fresh fish came from Tsukiji Market in Japan which we have been to and waited hours in line to eat at one of the markets restaurants, I knew our experience there would be special.  This place is legit with Japanese employees and sushi chefs too!  Lastly, we don’t normally do dessert, but they had Humphry Slocombe ice cream & had unique flavors at that.  So, A+ for dessert options!
