Dearest Ivy,

Ivy, your name signifies faithfulness. We kept the faith even before you came into existence. Before we had you, I had a miscarriage. There was never a doubt that I’d want to try to have another baby, but it took some time. After your sister, I was naive in thinking I could get pregnant again easily, but I was wrong. I had a molar pregnancy with two embryos. It could’ve been cancerous, but thankfully it wasn’t after many, many months of blood tests and prayers. We had to let them go and it was a very difficult time.

When I was finally cleared and we were able to try again, we found out we were pregnant with you and though I was elated, I was also very scared. At our first visit, I was overjoyed to know I had another healthy baby inside of me, but we were too afraid to tell anyone. We kept the faith.

You were growing normal and then we had a scare – I had to go to the doctor. I was diagnosed with Placenta Previa at 19 weeks and later also had VCI. I had to stop dancing, but I knew it was for the best. After a few more scares and being admitted to the hospital for close observation, I kept praying. At 38 weeks, I was induced and you decided to make your grand entrance with 2 pushes.

When you were born, I cried. I cried because I could finally stop worrying. I could finally smile because you were as perfect as I imagined.

Ivy, every mommy has their story. This is our story. Sometimes there’s a rainbow at the end of every storm and sometimes you go through ups & downs to finally get to your rainbow. You will always be my rainbow baby!
