BEFORE                      and                    AFTER

Dining chairs are usually non-interesting pieces of furniture in the house.  I wanted to give our small dining room some interesting chairs that gave the room some eye-catching pieces and chairs it was!  I purchased 4 dining chairs from our haul at the Alameda Antique Fair.  If you’ve never gone, you do not know what you’re missing out on.  This is not your average flea market because everyone walks away with something!  It is held every 1st Sunday of the month and it’s an event you shouldn’t miss if you’re looking for one-of-a-kind furniture pieces among other things.  They also have food trucks available because it might just take you the whole morning or afternoon to get through.

Anyway, here is how I revamped the chairs:

What you need:

  • Spray Paint
  • Screwdriver
  • Pliers
  • Staple Gun
  • Upholstery Staples
  • Fabric Liner
  • Patterned Fabric
  • Foam Cushion

Step 1.  Turn the chair over, take the legs off & spray paint color of your choice.  Set to dry & top coat if needed to seal color.

Step 2.  Remove previous staples using screwdriver or pliers

Step 3.  Remove chair liner and trace old liner onto new fabric liner

Step 4.  Cut fabric liner and trace & cut fabric patterned liner as well

Step 5.  Use old foam cushion to trace onto new foam cushion & cut

Step 6.  Staple gun fabric liner over new cushion & wood bottom.  Repeat with patterned liner.

There it is:   A brand new dining chair that’ll be fun to change and wont cost too much too!
