Weekend Wrap Up: Craft Night – Painting Drinking Glasses

IMG_3221

This weekend I hosted my first “Craft Night” at my house with a few ladies.  The weather was very weird so a few couldn’t make it.  Who knew that in late-February there would be lightning and hail in the Bay Area!

We decided on painting drinking glasses.  So, it was B.Y.O.G. (Bring Your own Glass) paint night.  They could bring any kind of glass they wanted and I would supply the paint, brushes, some snacks, and of course, wine.  I also had a bunch of unused plain mugs in my cupboards and decided to give them to the ladies as an additional glass to paint.

So, I set up the dining room into our craft space and covered the table with wrapping paper to avoid any paint on our table.  I set the table up with paints, brushes, the plain mugs, wine glasses (for drinking), plastic cups to clean brushes and cupcake liners to put the paint in or mix colors.  I had my craft cart (Ikea) near by with paper towels and other supplies we may have needed.

Next, I set up the snacks & appetizers in our kitchen nook area.  I made sesame noodles, bacon wrapped dates & rice krispy treats.  We also had fruit, charcuterie, crackers, cheese and wine as well.  The other ladies also brought some yummy treats.  🙂

Finally, after 3 hours of chatting, snacking, painting, drinking, playing with Dahlia and the dogs, we finished!

Everyone had different ideas for their glasses.  Some were simple and some were more complex.

Lastly, to set the glasses, put them in the oven for 30 min. at 315 degrees in the oven and do not pre-heat it.

I have to say, staying indoors from stormy weather is always a good idea and being creative makes it that more fun with friends.  We’ll definitely do it again and I think we might be baking next time 🙂  So, until then, Happy March and have a great week!

Cheers!  I’ll drink to that 🙂
