‘Make it’ Monday: Easy DIY Bath Products Made with Essential Oils that Make Great Gifts (Bath Bombs, Sugar Scrubs, Soap and Candles)

I love using essential oils. So, last year for the Holidays, I wanted to make useful items with my essential oils as gifts and thought bath products would be the perfect thing to make! My criteria was simple – make simple items without a lot of nonsense. Everything I made was really easy to make; I just needed to buy the right ingredients.

Here are four different kinds of bath products I made that I could see myself using that you can make too! And with Valentine’s Day coming soon, these are perfect and doable items to make for your kids’ teachers, loved ones, co-workers or friends!

Homemade Lavender Bath Bombs:

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 2 cups baking soda
  • 1 cup cream of tartar
  • 6 tablespoons Epsom salt
  • 1 mixing bowl
  • Large spoon
  • 4 tablespoons of dried lavender (You can also use chamomile, rose, calendula and rosemary)
  • Lavender Essential oils ( You can also use peppermint, wild orange, calendula, rose, or preferred scent)
  • 2 tsp. Coconut or olive oil
  • Spray bottle filled with water
  • Plastic circular bath bomb mold I found at Michael’s or you can use a silicone ice tray

Step 1: Mix all the dry ingredients together.

Step 2: Add all the wet ingredients and mix along with 20 drops of lavender oil.

Step 3: Grab some of the mixture into your hand and if it sticks together well, you’re ready to use your molds. If not, use your spray bottle using only one spray at a time until it molds together.

Step 4: Place mixture into your molds and wrap in saran wrap or paper to hold together. I also added a pinch of dried lavender on the top.

…and voila! You’re done 🙂

Lavender Chamomile Soap:

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • 2 Chamomile Tea Bags
  • Sachet of dried Lavender Flower
  • Lavender essential oil
  • Microwave Safe Bowl
  • Soap Mold

Step 1: Cut shea butter into squares and microwave until soft. (30 sec. at a time).

Step 2: Add in 10 – 12 drops of lavender oil and stir.

Step 3: Break the chamomile tea bag and also stir in the dried lavender flower.

Step 4:  Pour the liquid into your soap molds and wait until it dries to remove.

Essential Oil Soy Candles:

Here’s What You’ll Need:

  • Soy Wax Flakes (I’ve bought some at Michael’s and Amazon)
  • Mason Jar
  • Candle Wick
  • Chopsticks
  • Essential Oil of your choice (I’ve used grapefruit and peppermint, but any one will do!)

Step 1: Fill up your jar with wax and microwave 60 sec. until completed melted.

Step 2: For a 16 oz. jar add 30 drops of essential oil and stir.

Step 3: Using chopsticks, place candle wick in the center. The chopsticks should help keep the wick in place. Let dry and that’s it!

Now, you can dress up your jar or keep it au natural. I made smaller jars for gifts for Christmas using the peppermint oil.
